The Portuguese will cope with the Colombian national team.

Situation in Group K of the FIFA World Cup, where initially the favorites were Colombia and Portugal, strongly resembled pre-tournament lineups in one of the parallel quartets, into which the draw placed Uruguay, Spain, Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia. The status of European and South American teams was indisputable, while teams from Asia and Africa could at most contend for third place. What kind of catastrophe the group stage ended up as for Uruguay in such a lineup is known and discussed by the whole world. Fortunately for fans of Colombia and Portugal, there is no threat of such a collapse for them. Although one cannot say that the first two rounds were an easy stroll for them. Colombia has already secured one of the top two spots in the standings, with six points. Losing first place for the South Americans would only come as a defeat to Portugal in the final group match. The price of first place looks very high. If the leader of Group K plays one of the third-placed teams in Groups E, I, or L, then the second-placed team could reach the Round of 16 to face Croatia, England, or Ghana. None of the three teams looks like an easy opponent. In case of a draw, Portugal would be guaranteed to finish second, and a defeat, together with a convincing DR Congo victory over Uzbekistan in the parallel match, could even push the European Brazilians to lose not only second place but also qualification to the playoffs from third place. Bookmakers have made Portugal the favorite for the upcoming match, offering odds of 2.04 on its victory. Despite two wins in the opening rounds of the World Cup, one cannot speak of total domination by the Colombians over the Congolese or the Uzbeks. In both matches, the most noticeable player was Luis Díaz, but it is hard to call his teammates' play perfect. The Colombians allowed the Uzbeks to come back for a while, and they secured the win over the African side with a minimal margin after a goal in the 76th minute. Portugal faltered only in the tournament's first match, when it showed inexplicable caution in the match against the Congolese. In the second match, Cristiano Ronaldo and his teammates not only routed Uzbekistan, but also prepared well for the first truly serious opponent at the 2026 World Cup.
