Bayern Munich this season resembled a giant undefeated monster who swept aside even prestigious clubs on both the European stage and domestically. A strong disappointment for the fans of the Munich club was the Champions League semifinal clash with French PSG. After a narrow one-goal defeat in Paris, Bayern were considered the clear favourite for the home leg, but they stumbled against the well-organized defense of Luis Enrique's side. Ironically, the only clubs that managed to beat Bayern this season will meet in the Champions League final. The Bundesliga season was a walk in the park for the Munich club, which clinched the title several rounds before the finish. Stuttgart can count this season as an achievement. Despite an early exit from the Europa League play-offs at the hands of Porto, the Swabians performed best in domestic competitions. In the German championship Stuttgart managed to finish fourth, which guarantees them a place in the Champions League group stage for the next season. In the national cup the Swabians reached the final for the second year in a row. Last season, to win the trophy, they had to beat Arminia, which at that time played in the third division of Germany. This time, before the match, Stuttgart looks not like a predator but like a potential prey. Bookmakers set the nominal hosts as favorites for the upcoming final, offering odds of 1.33 on their victory. After the exit from the Champions League, Bayern players did not brood or lose to less prestigious opponents. In mid-May, Vincent Kompany's side beat Wolfsburg and Cologne, recording 89 of 102 possible points in the Bundesliga standings and a phenomenal 122 goals in 34 matches. If we do not count the German Super Cup meeting from August of last year, the Bayern–Stuttgart head-to-head clashes in the current season did not materialize at all. The Swabians suffered two defeats and conceded a total of nine goals (0:5 and 2:4). Despite Stuttgart not losing any late-season matches against direct rivals, they will not be able to play on equal terms with Bayern. Harry Kane and company will manage to win already in the first half of the match.
