Union Berlin became a club of the elite German division in the 2019/2020 season. Since then, for four consecutive seasons the capital club has consistently finished higher than in the previous seasons. Union's positive momentum ended after its entry into the Champions League. In the 2023/2024 season the team was forced to fight for survival and finished only fifteenth in the Bundesliga table. From that season began a new cycle for the Berlin club of finishes with positive momentum. The only thing is that, for now, the team of Steffen Baumgart cannot yet claim a place in the Champions League places. Borussia Dortmund last season went through such a crisis that it would be quite logical to go for a rebuild. Appointing Nico Kovac to the coaching post, the Bees avoided painful processes and with a victory in the last round secured another participation in the Champions League. They are quite a few points short of European spots, but in every match the players fight as if there is a task to reach them. Union's last defeat came about a month and a half ago in Wolfsburg. The last time Baumgart's charges failed to score at least one goal was even earlier — on the first day of November last year, when they hosted Freiburg. The current scoring streak for Union Berlin stands at ten matches. It is worth remembering that at home in the first half of the Bundesliga the team almost beat Bayern — 2:2. Borussia Dortmund confidently occupies second place in the division and is unlikely to give it away to anyone. The Bees' average goals per match is about two. After a goalless defeat in London to Tottenham, Dortmund certainly longs to realize their attacking potential in Berlin.
