Oergryte – Elfsborg

Last season, as in many previous seasons, Örgryte spent in the second tier of Swedish football. The last time the team reached Allsvenskan was at the end of the 2008 season, when it won the Superettan. In the next edition of the elite Swedish league, the Gothenburg club was relegated and had not returned to Allsvenskan up to the current year. In the previous Superettan season, Örgryte, five rounds before the end of the season, fought for direct promotion with Kalmar and Västerås, finishing third without a single win in the closing stretch. In the playoff against Norrköping, the Gothenburg club did not prove itself the stronger, but managed to win the home match 3-0, in which it converted almost all of its goal-scoring opportunities, while the opponent could not score. The newcomer's affairs in Allsvenskan are not going well, as evidenced by its current last place in the table. Elfsborg in 2022 almost won the Swedish championship, but missed out on the title as a result of the final round. After that setback, the Borås-based club returned to its usual mid-table Allsvenskan status, but the ambitions of its management and players are evident. They are showing them most of all now. Elfsborg sit fourth in the division after a third of the season's matches have been played, but by points they trail only the formidable Sirius. Bookmakers have designated the guests as favorites for the upcoming match, offering odds of 1.87 on their victory. Örgryte started the season incredibly. In the first round the team drew with the country's most decorated club Malmö, and then beat the reigning champions Mjällby away. However, that victory was the first and so far the last for Örgryte this season. The following seven rounds brought the newcomer six defeats and one draw. Despite signs of weakness from the home side, it is noteworthy that Örgryte has scored in every home match. Elfsborg has kept a clean sheet in only one of the seven Allsvenskan fixtures since April 22, and has scored in every match of the season. Such statistics and the balance of power indicate a high likelihood that both teams will score.
